Nevada Division of Minerals

To encourage and assist in the responsible exploration for and the production of minerals, oil, gas, and geothermal energy which are economically beneficial to the State, to provide for public safety by identifying, ranking and securing dangerous conditions at mines that are no longer operating, and collecting and disseminating information on exploration, production and related topics.

Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology

The Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology (NBMG) is a research and public service unit of the University of Nevada and is the state geological survey. NBMG is part of the Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering within the College of Science at the University of Nevada, Reno. NBMG scientists conduct research and publish reports on mineral resources, engineering geology, environmental geology, hydrogeology, and geologic mapping.

Current activities in geologic mapping and mineral resources include detailed geologic mapping and stratigraphic studies in Nevada, comparative studies of bulk-mineable precious-metal deposits, geochemical investigations of mining districts, metallic and industrial mineral resource assessments, igneous petrologic studies, hydrothermal experiments, and research on the origin of mineral deposits.

Nevada Mining Association

For more than 100 years, the Nevada Mining Association has partnered with policymakers, regulators, and community leaders to ensure the State’s natural resources can be protected while mining communities are allowed to thrive.  The sections below illustrate the industry’s commitment to preserving Nevada’s environment, history, and communities.

Geological Society of Nevada

The Geological Society of Nevada (GSN) is a non-profit scientific society whose principal mission is to promote the advancement of the geological sciences, especially as they relate to Nevada. The Society encourages the dissemination of scientific and practical knowledge through semiformal presentations, field trips and symposia as well as by publishing the literature resulting from these activities.

The Society has developed a secondary mission, through the GSN Foundation, of funding a number of earth science related charitable programs, including grants for K-12 field trips, university scholarships and grants for geological mapping.

Nevada Mineral Exploration Coalition

The Nevada Mineral Exploration Coalition (NMEC) is a not-for-profit, nonpartisan coalition of small businesses and individuals engaged in, or in support of, mineral exploration and development activities in the State.

The NMEC believes these activities are essential to Nevada's economy and the sustainability of the State's mining industry.

As NMEC members, we are committed to working with public officials, other organizations and the general public to increase the understanding and appreciation of these pre-production components of Nevada's mineral industry and to work diligently to preserve and enhance the ability of this essential segment of Nevada's economy to help insure the long-term well-being of our State and its citizens.

Nevada Governor's Office of Economic Development

The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) was created during the 2011 Session of the Nevada Legislature through a collaboration of the Nevada Governor's Office and the Leadership of the Nevada State Senate and State Assembly (Authority: NRS 231).

Northeastern Nevada Regional Development Authority

Our mission at NNRDA is to encourage and coordinate the continual, diversified development & economic growth of the Northeastern Nevada region and all of its entities.
